Samantha Feist

Samantha FiestSamantha Feist graduated in June 2015 with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Physical Science with a Chemistry minor from Guelph. Having started her undergraduate degree as a chemistry student, she did not realize her love for Geography and Earth Science until her second year. She took the Natural Hazards Geography class as an elective in her first year, which eventually helped her realize her true passion.

Civic Spark Winers

Civic Sparks winnersAssim Sayed Mohammed and Ashley Bastianz - were part of a team that won the Third Annual CivicSpark Case Competition, which was based on the problem of urban greenhouse gas emissions. Both students are in the B.Sc. (Env) program, but credit their win to knowledge they gained from their Geography courses, particularly GEOG 4210 (Environmental Governance).

Field Trip Photo Gallery

For many of our geography students, a highlight of their degree is their participation in the annual field trip, which has been running since 1970.  Below you can find photos from most of these trips.

Though we strive to keep the costs of participation manageable, for some students the field course is too great a cost.  We are therefore grateful for a generous gift from Shauneen and Michael Bruder, graduates of the College of Social Science in 1980, which provides $3500 annually to support student participation in the field course.

Alumni

Welcome to the Guelph Geography Alumni Association web site. This is our virtual office to stay in touch, and continue relationships started at our alma mater. We have just over 2000 graduates of the geography program since it was established in 1966. Now we have the technology in place to regroup. For now, this is our only mission.

Societies

Undergraduate Societies

Our student group - The Geography Society - organizes special events throughout the year, including trips, parties, and career nights to keep you engaged and networked with faculty and with the community @Guelph. They have their own room in the Geography Building, which provides a place for members to meet, to study, and to plan events. The Geography building is the best building on campus – a place you will be happy to call home.
