News from the Hutt - RDA 1/30/20

Prof Emeritus Robin Davidson-Arnott has been awarded the International Society for Aeolian Research Distinguished Career Award. Robin will be presented with this award at the ICAR-2020 meeting in Namibia  this summer. 

Mike Hilton writes "...you encapsulate all that is good about academia and aeolian geomorphology. You have been an inspiration to a generation (or two?) of geomorphologists..."

Congratulations to doctoral graduate Erin Must (advisor: Roberta Hawkins) who has won the O.P. Dwivedi Graduate Prize for International Development. Erin's thesis title is "Women’s Cattle Ownership in Northwestern Botswana: 'Anything you bring up with your own hands will multiply'". 

Geographers in the News - Kantamneni 10/4/19

Doctoral candidate Abhi Kantamneni and a few friends have launched a new Guelph based social-enterprise - Royal City Stories - a new video series showcasing compelling stories of Guelph's 'everyday heroes' to inspire belonging and optimism in our community.

Geographers in the News - Silver 8/8/19

Dr. Jennifer Silver was recently interviewed for 'BioScience Talks', the podcast of the American Institute of Biological Sciences. Jen and two co-authors discuss a recent paper that explores rationales for and approaches to integrating governance into quantitative modeling for sustainable fisheries management. Questions focused on the paper itself as well as what it takes to make interdisciplinary collaboration work. You can have a listen here.
