Who are we?
Established in 1966, the Department of Geography at the University of Guelph serves as a hub for research and teaching on human-environment geography, environmental geoscience, and geomatics. Our community includes nineteen full-time faculty who are acclaimed researchers and award-winning teachers, numerous sessional faculty committed to high quality instruction, seven dedicated staff who provide outstanding administrative and technical support, approximately 70 graduate students and 500 undergraduate majors. Collectively we strive to explore and address major social and environmental issues facing our global community.
Geography @Guelph equips you with knowledge on human-environmental relations and skills related to qualitative, quantitative and spatial analyses. We offer hands-on opportunities to apply geographic knowledge and skills to real world scenarios with policy and community actors and through a global perspective. We span natural and social sciences, as well as theoretical and applied realms, which encourages interdisciplinarity and integration. Geography @Guelph also teaches transferable skills that all employers seek: communication, timeliness, problem-solving, reflexivity, working independently and with others, and leadership.
